Material Flow Design -
Our i-Lean product is a powerful tool in the hands of a trained logistics professional. However, we recognize that not every company that could benefit from its use can afford the initial purchase investment or dedicate qualified staff to learn how to apply it immediately. To accommodate these potential customers, Chiron provides        i-Lean Design Services.

i-Lean Design Service - Purchasing this service entitles you to an expert analysis of your current environment resulting in a range of recommended material flows and stocking strategies to put your operation on track toward significantly higher productivity and lower costs. Whether you are designing a new facility, refurbishing an existing one, or just looking to improve efficiency, we can work with you to explore cost effective solutions.

The process deliverables include:

  • Recommended flow paths for every SKU (receiving direct to pick slots, receiving to reserves or kitting)
  • Recommended inventory levels for every SKU (maximum stock and re-order point)
  • Categorization of every SKU into ABC categories with user defined break points based on cost, lead time and volumetrics, and demand
  • Space requirements (square footage for storage media and aisles)
  • Best use of storage media
  • Slotting analysis (pick slot placement by SKU based on CPOI)
  • Comparison of existing inventory balances with optimal balances
  • Electronic copies of all of your analysis runs with an export of the corresponding reference data
  • A transfer of knowledge in the use of i-Lean

An unlimited number of alternate scenarios can be investigated and each alternative is presented with the associated ordering, material handling and inventory carrying costs along with commentary on why the results look like they do.

A Typical Engagement

  • First, our analysis team will work with you to get an understanding of your current operation, environment, and constraints.
  • We will provide an overall assessment, including a strategy for developing the design.
  • Based on design objectives, we will jointly determine the specific deliverables.
  • Working with your operations management and IT staff, we will determine what data sources are available and how they might best be used as input to i-Lean. If some data is not available,        i-Lean can accommodate a number of default values to produce a very good approximation.
  • Once the scope and data sources are established, a working schedule for the project will be defined, complete with responsibilities, deliverables, and dates.
  • An initial deliverable will be the preliminary results from i-Lean's standard outputs for scenarios of interest to you.
  • Based on your feedback, we can either continue with additional, more sophisticated analyses, or provide electronic outputs (e.g. spreadsheets) of the results for your own further analysis or as feedback to your internal applications.

After the analysis is complete and finalized results have been presented, we will archive your data, so further analysis can be performed later without the cost of a full data-collection effort. If you decide to purchase i-Lean, it will come with your fully-populated database and associated results to date.

The cost for this service covers our labor, leveraging the power of i-Lean to produce results for you quickly. If you decide that i-Lean is a tool you would like to use on your own, we'll provide a credit against the purchase and support options.
