Navesink to join forces with Chiron
to leverage lean inventory solutions.

Middletown, NJ and Holmdel, NJ – October 25, 2004

Navesink Logistics, a leading pioneer in virtual network consulting that specializes in software integration for the logistics/supply chain industry and Chiron Technologies, a provider of lean inventory design software today announced a strategic partnership. This new alliance combines the substantial staffing resources of Navesink with Chiron's unique software and lean inventory design services to implement “Pull” strategies for manufacturing and distribution operations. Under the agreement, Navesink will provide implementation and consulting services to expand Chiron's internal resources.

Navesink Logistics offers clients a breadth of supply chain and IT consulting expertise at favorable rates realizable through its virtual firm business model. The firm's network is substantial with more than 1,000 qualified professionals many of whom have decades of industry and Big 5 consulting experience.

"Navesink Logistics and Chiron combine logistics professionals with superior process, functional and technical expertise with analysis and design capabilities that can dramatically improve supply chain performance," said Thomas McKenna, President of Navesink Logistics.

”Implementing an efficient, pull-oriented lean inventory strategy is best achieved by applying powerful tools to support advanced analysis and detailed design techniques,” said Marc Barnett, President of Chiron Technologies. “Working with Navesink will provide the bandwidth to offer these solutions to a wide audience.

”Chiron’s flagship product, i-Lean, is a truly unique analysis and design system that takes the guesswork out of implementing a pull inventory model for manufacturing and warehousing settings. Based on years of industry, academic, and National Science Foundation research, i-Lean makes it possible to perform detailed process and financial analyses of different material flow, storage options, and slotting for thousands of SKU's simultaneously - a breakthrough technology leading to higher inventory velocity, reduced costs, and improved customer service through fewer or no stock outs. i-Lean's "what if" features also provide the capability to run, modify, and compare multiple scenarios rapidly to assess the impact changes in parameters like SKU demand and lead time on inventory turns, replenishment cycles, safety stock, storage requirements, etc.

Joint Research With Rutgers – In September 2002, Chiron began a joint research project with the Industrial Engineering Department to investigate demand chain issues in conjunction with a nationally known consumer products catalog company. Of particular interest is the development of a methodology to characterize seasonal product demand data as input for warehouse forward pick location slotting optimization.
